Carolyn Taratko

Ph.D. candidate, History

Carolyn Taratko is a fourth year PhD student in the Department of History at Vanderbilt. Her research concerns the reconceptualization of the German countryside in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through state planning and self-help initiatives. She is interested in the ways that rural communities became tied into global networks of trade and expertise. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, and anything else that allows her be outdoors.
